OUR
STORY
SANCA George’s origin can be traced back to the Lions Club’s QUEST programme in 1988. This was a life skills programme for school-going youth which included prevention regarding the use of addictive substances. The Outeniqua Drug-Abuse Action Group (ODAG) was established with the support of the Lions Club and three business men, were involved in this process.
In 1994 the first community worker was appointed and a social worker assisted her voluntarily. During 1996 ODAG became affiliated with SANCA Western Cape and the organisation was registered with the Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) Directorate in 2000 as SANCA George.

In 2004 SANCA George was affiliated with the SANCA National Directorate. In the past 22 Years SANCA George have grown in staff and service delivery. Currently the organisation operates with 8 permanent staff members, 1 project manager, 1 relief administration officer and 1 contracted professional nurse. Initially the organisation focussed on prevention and awareness programmes, but over many years expanded service delivery further into early intervention, community based treatment and aftercare services. We do our utmost best to keep up with the demands in the addiction field and deliver a service that will change the lives of people in the grip of addiction.
